People Counting System Camera Sensor

3D Brickstream Camera

Camera sensor installed near the entrance (mounted on the ceiling) to capture entrance enter & exit counts.

LED indicators:

- green means it is working properly

- amber/yellow means it is having problem connect to server (but it is counting and storing data in the sensor itself)

- red, the sensor is not functioning properly. Contact Tapway

- no light at all means no power. Contact Tapway.

2D Brickstream Camera

PoE InjectorPower over Ethernet (PoE) Injector is to supply power to the sensor/camera. PoE injector is normally used for 1 camera only

PoE Switch

Power over Ethernet switch is to supply power to the sensor/camera and can supply up to 4-16 cameras.

This example shows a 5 port PoE switch in which Port 1 to 4 is for the sensor/camera, while port with no PoE label is for the Modem/Router.

LED Indicator:
Port 1-4 green OK
Port 5 orange OK

Modem/Router

Modem/router is to supply the Internet connection to the sensor/camera via the PoE Switch. This modem/router is owned by the shop and we used the existing (not supplied by Tapway).

B. System Diagram

Diagram 1

NOTE: PoE switch can be replaced with PoE injector if you have only 1 camera.

  1. From PoE switch, the camera sensors only use port 1 to 4.

  2. Port 5 is only for the modem/router, because port 5 has no Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Diagram 2

  1. For certain outlets, the Switch will be installed inside the store room nearby the CCTV NVR.

  2. The Internet from the Switch will be connected to the PoE Switch then to Modem/Router.

C. Troubleshoot

1. Check LED status of the camera/sensor

  • Make sure the LED is blinking green.

  • If it's blinking amber/orange, means there is no internet.

  • If it's blinking red, means there is hardware issue

  • If possible, staff need to record a video of that sensor and send it to Tapway.

2. Check on the status of the PoE switch:

  • Is the PoE Switch power on?
  • Is the power adapter cable loose?
  • Is the network cable connected correctly?
  • Is any of the cable loose?

3. Check the connection of the system as shown in Diagram 1 or Diagram 2. Make sure it is correct.

4. If the PoE LED is not showing lights at all, there are only two possibilities

  1. The PoE switch has no power supply.

  2. Make sure the power cables are connected correctly according to the diagram.

  3. Make sure no loose cables.
