Problem Statement

Currently, you have changed your internet network, and the sensors stopped working. The likelihood is that your new internet provider uses a different Gateway IP.

By default, these are the most common Gateway IPs used:

  • 192.168.0.1
  • 192.168.1.1

If our sensor is 192.168.1.xxx, it won't work if your Gateway IP is 192.168.0.1, and vice versa.

Therefore, you will need to change the Network Settings manually in order to update the Sensor IP address.

How do we know the network gateway IP?

Go to Command Prompt and type ipconfig

How do we know the camera sensor IP?

Unfortunately, you will need to ask for support from Tapway. We are able to check for the IP address in our Device Manager. An example:

Step 1: Update Your PC's Network to Sensor's Gateway IP

  • Go To Control Panel and click on Network and Internet

  • Click Network and Sharing Center
  • Click on the network name that is connected to the sensor. If you are not sure, always treat the network in which you can go online as the default network.

  • Click on "Properties"

  • Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4)

  • You should be seeing a screen like this. If it's not something you see, please consult Tapway Support.

  • Now, you need to update the Default Gateway to match the same one as the Sensor. For this example, we are using the 192.168.0.x network

  • Click "OK"
  • Then click "OK" again on this screen

Step 2: Update Your Sensor's IP Address

  • Now, type your existing sensor IP address.
  • You should be able to see the sensor page. If you don't, please check in command prompt if your network has changed to the same Gateway IP
  • You may update the IP address to the same network as the store network. For example, if the store network uses 192.168.0.1 Gateway IP, update your sensor IP to 192.168.0.xxx and Default Gateway to 192.168.0.1.
  • Make sure the DNS server is 8.8.8.8
  • Click "Save" and the sensor will reboot

Step 3: Update Your PC's Network Back to the Store Network's Gateway IP

  • Go to the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4) like how you did it in Step 2.
  • You should be seeing a screen like this. If it's not something you see, please consult Tapway Support.

  • Now, you need to update the Default Gateway back to the original one, i.e. click "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". Click OK.

  • Then click "OK" again on this screen

Step 4: Check if Sensor IP Address is Updated

  • Now, type your new sensor IP address.
  • You should be able to see the sensor page. If not, please contact Tapway support
